Gcse Exam Results

We are delighted to share that our latest exam results are up across the Orbital Education group.

In a year unlike any other, all the schools in the group have ensured that their students, particularly those in exam years, haven't miss out on their education through the excellent online learning and support provided during lockdown.

99% of all GCSE/IGCSE qualifications entered by Orbital students were awarded passes, up from 95% last year, with those receiving the highest A* and A (or 9-7) grades up to 45% this year.

A-Level passes in the group were up to 94%, from 90% last year, with A* and A grades almost doubling on last year.

In comparison with the UK, the Orbital group results are significantly higher that the England average for GCSE/IGCSE, in both pass rate and for top grades. At A-Level, the group results are comparable to the pass rate in England and higher for the top grades.

Our students who were studying for their IB Diploma at British School Quito achieved a 100% pass rate, up by a quarter on last year, with a school average 3 points above the worldwide norm.

A Level Exam Results

Among these results, there have been several notable performances from individual students and in particular subjects within schools, including a number of students and subjects achieving a ‘clean sweep’ of A*/A grades at both IGCSE and A-Level.

It is also important to remember that success is not just measured in grades but also in effort. A stand out for their achievement is a student at the British School Quito who gained 5 IGCSEs (A* in Maths, As in Biology and Physics and Cs in Art and Chemistry) having only joined the school in September with no English or Spanish! This is a fantastic achievement both by the student and the staff who supported them.

We want to congratulate all of our students around the world for their hard work in challenging circumstances and to say a big thank you to all our staff for supporting their students so well throughout this year.
